CIAM to empower women from around the world through Rio de Janeiro songwriting camp

The International Council of Music Creators (CIAM) is proud to host a unique songwriting camp for women in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on November 6th-8th, 2023. The camp will take place in conjunction with CIAM’s General Assembly on November 8th and 9th.

The songwriting camp will bring together talented women from around the world at the prestigious visomdigital Studios. The goal is to support women music creators, by fostering unity and sharing expertise in writing, composing, beat-making and production over the course of three days.

This camp will be the newest CIAM initiative in its efforts to bring awareness and support to underrepresented groups within the music industry. Overall women music creator membership and income across the industry is relatively low compared to their male counterparts. The use of role models, examples, and shared experiences and expertise are ways to achieve a greater balance in gender representation. Through this songwriting camp, CIAM increases support for gender diversity on a global scale through creating and producing songs and media compositions while empowering and inspiring women to expand their creative scope.

Notable Latin American women artists and topliners will be participating in addition to women from all corners of the globe. At the conclusion of the writing camp, a listening session will be held at the CIAM General Assembly of the songs, as well as a panel on the challenges women face in the music industry, and in particular, in songwriting and production.
