Acclaimed New Zealand songwriter and producer Bic Runga joins CIAM Executive Committee

The International Council of Music Creators welcomes Bic Runga (Ngāti Kahungunu, Rongomaiwahine) to the CIAM Executive Committee. The multi-platinum award winning songwriter and producer from New Zealand was inducted into the New Zealand Music Hall of Fame in 2016. Her contributions to music led her to be a member of the New Zealand Order of Merit.

Bic rose to fame with her debut album “Drive”, which reached platinum seven times and features the renown song “Sway”. In 2003, she became the first woman to win Best Producer for her 11-time platinum album “Beautiful Collision” at the Aotearoa Music Awards. She has been a non-executive writer-director for the board of APRA AMCOS since 2019.

Thanking Amanda Brown and welcoming Bic Runga, CIAM President Arriën Molema said: "First of all I'd like to thank Amanda Brown for her years of contribution to the ExCo, and for sharing her expertise on composing for AV and insights in the region. Furthermore, I'm excited that Bic will be joining our ExCo on behalf of APRA, and looking forward to having her experience as a songwriter and APRA-board member contributing to our goals at CIAM."
