CIAM Elections 2026 - Arriën Molema
Buma-Stemra
Hi everyone,
Two years ago, I asked for your support with a clear commitment: to unite creators across the regions and to strengthen our Partner Alliances and also to make sure CIAM’s voice gets heard on the global stage.
Since then, we have brought CIAM closer to creators worldwide. We’ve supported the African Music Academy and held our General Assembly in Johannesburg South Africa — the first one in Africa in eleven years. We also brought together creators from different regions like Kazakhstan, Moldova, India, Saudi Arabia and beyond, strengthening the network at the heart of CIAM.
I have represented CIAM internationally in discussions on streaming and AI, cultural diversity and collective management. We have engaged with governments in South Africa and Thailand and built stronger connections with organizations such as UNESCO and WIPO.
We also began building a clearer and more strategic CIAM: an organisation that educates, that advocates and that connects creators — to complement our Partner Alliances and to bring regional concerns to the global level.
But the work is not finished.
Our next challenge is to keep this network strong and active, and to turn our connections into coordinated advocacy to ensure greater influence. When CIAM speaks globally, we must bring the real experiences of creators with us and show how laws and policies affect their rights and livelihoods.
With my experience within CIAM and the global music industry, and as a songwriter, artist and IP lawyer, I ask for your support for a second term — to ensure that CIAM stays connected, visible and influential.
Thank you,
Arriën Molema
