MCNA member SAC welcomes Bill C-11 passage by Senate in Canada
The Songwriters Association of Canada (SAC), a member of Music Creators North America, is welcoming the final passage by the Canadian Senate of Bill C-11, The Online Streaming Act. Bill C-11 would align foreign streamers with the Broadcast Regulatory Framework that traditional radio and television broadcasters are required to follow in order to support Canadian content and creation.
SAC President Arun Chaturvedi praised its passage by stating, “Bill C-11 is a positive step forward for the Canadian music industry. It encourages the creation and dissemination of Canadian music, while also ensuring that foreign streaming services contribute to the funding and promotion of Canadian culture. This is a vital development for our songwriters, artists, and the music industry as a whole.”
