Long-Term CIAM Executive Committee Member Jean-Marie Moreau Elected President of SACEM
French songwriter Jean-Marie Moreau has been elected President of SACEM’s Board of Directors. He has served on CIAM’s Executive Committee (ExCo) since 2008, and will be stepping down from the Executive Committee to focus on his new responsibilities with SACEM. French songwriter Wally Badarou will be succeeding Jean-Marie in the Exco.
Honouring Jean-Marie’s contributions to the music creators’ council, CIAM President Eddie Schwartz stated: “As a long-standing CIAM Exco member, Jean-Marie has devoted years of experience, as well as exceptional time and energy to the cause of music creators in the EU and around the world. His contribution is deeply appreciated by all of us who have had the honour and pleasure to work with him. While we will miss Jean-Marie on the CIAM Exco, we are delighted to know he will carry on this crucial work as the President of SACEM. We wish him our very best in that new and important role, and we look forward to collaborating with Jean-Marie and SACEM in making the world a better place for music creators."
CIAM Honorary President Lorenzo Ferrero reflected on working with Jean-Marie: “Working with Jean-Marie has always been a pleasure and a challenge thanks to his intelligence and his sense of humour. He never missed noticing important details and identifying crucial issues. Therefore, it is difficult to imagine a future without him. At the same time, I trust we can consider his prestigious position a new beginning, a new episode in the collaboration with a creator, who over the years, has become a dear friend above all.”Photo © Marc Chesneau
