CIAM Vice-President Attends Panel on EC Copyright Reform

Following the European Commission proposals to reform copyright legislation, CIAM Vice-President Simon Darlow, Head of the Copyright Unit Internal Market DG María Martín-Prat, MEP Rosa Estarás, creators and members of the cultural sector took part in a debate in Madrid organised by the Instituto de Derecho de Autor. Simon Darlow highlighted the importance of transparency regarding the transfer of value as well as paid tribute to the EC for their "balanced, well evidenced" proposals that "present a real opportunity to build a better functioning online market”. He also added:

"on behalf of creators around the world, not only do we support the Commission’s proposals, but we believe they can create a template for copyright reform around the world".
